COLLINGS is a world-class guitar maker based in Austin, Texas. Since its establishment, the company has earned an outstanding reputation for its exceptional craftsmanship, structural integrity, playability, and refined finish quality.

This is a 2008 COLLINGS OM-2H, a used example of one of the brand's most representative and highly regarded models.

The OM-2H is based on the pre-war 14-fret OM-style guitar, reinterpreted through COLLINGS' own design philosophy and extremely precise craftsmanship. The model has been produced since the early years of the company and has become one of the defining instruments in the COLLINGS lineup.

The guitar features a classic combination of Solid Sitka Spruce for the top and Solid Indian Rosewood for the sides and back. This pairing provides a balanced response, combining the natural clarity of Sitka Spruce with the rich and deep low end of Indian Rosewood.

The elegant OM body is complemented by tasteful traditional appointments including herringbone trim, diamond and square fingerboard inlays, a square headstock, and Waverly tuning machines. Rather than relying on excessive decoration, the instrument's presence comes from the quality of its materials and the precision of its construction.

The sound offers the characteristic clarity and note separation associated with COLLINGS, while the nearly two decades since its construction have given this particular instrument a softer and more rounded character compared with a newer example. The overall response is warm and enveloping, with an exceptionally even balance from the low end through the high frequencies.

For fingerstyle playing, individual notes are clearly defined across the strings. When strummed, the Indian Rosewood body produces a full and expansive chord sound with excellent depth.

The neck has a relatively slim soft-V profile. Combined with the 42.86mm nut width, it feels comfortable in the hand and responds smoothly to both chord work and single-note playing. The 647.7mm scale provides a moderate amount of string tension, offering excellent response to a light touch while retaining plenty of headroom when played firmly with a pick.

This makes the OM-2H a highly versatile instrument suitable not only for fingerstyle players but also for players who frequently use a flatpick.

There are scratches and signs of use consistent with its age, but the instrument remains in very stable playing condition. It is ready to be enjoyed as a reliable working instrument.

The OM-2H is one of the models that has come to symbolize COLLINGS itself. It demonstrates how far a guitar can be refined through carefully selected traditional materials, exceptional construction, and uncompromising attention to detail.
