Josephson C617 with MK221 omni capsules and spherical baffles STEREO PAIR

These are in pristine condition. I am the original owner. The sets were purchased simultaneously as a matched pair culled by Josephson. (NOTE: the 617 bodies have sequential serial numbers, but the capsules do not, however, the capsule frequency response charts corroborate the match.)

These mics were purchased primarily as an investment but were occasionally used as an alternate main pair or wide flanks paired with DPA4006s mains on a few orchestral recordings at Carnegie Hall. I also took them out on a few acoustic recordings in smaller but acoustically appealing venues (for classical musician friends mostly) in NYC. The results were always pretty stellar.

These microphones are very low noise, very detailed, and transparent.

There are other 200V capsules around that fit these bodies, but I never had the bandwidth to explore the options.

(High voltage microphones can produce extraordinary results. I have heard a pair of DPA 4003s (130v) used as orchestra mains and they are stunning, but they require a special preamp, cables etc. The whole point of the C617 is to allow use of a 200v capsule while using any decent 48v phantom mic pre and standard 3 pin xlr mic cables. American innovation at its best.)

One might get a third one of these to create a Decca Tree or for a Jack Renner triplet omni configuration.

These two alone will take no prisoners as a main stereo pair in a good acoustical environment.
