This is a French Copy of a Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonenfis 4/4 Violin. This is reinforced by the copie de on the label. We believe this violin was made C 1930 due to the lack of a “made in France” text on the primary label. It does have a separate proof of origin stamp in compliance to the import laws during the 1930s.
This Violin was made in the Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy workshop in Mirecourt, France. This is shown from the harp stamp next to the main label with “Depose,” or trademark in French.
The JTL has the Pirastro Tonica Strings for the G, D and A. The E string is a Pirastro Gold wonder label. The finger board is the original along with the ebony tuning pegs. The shoulder rest is guenary ebony and non original. The tail piece is non original.
