A piece of G&L history when Leo Fender first started G&L.
All original 1981 G&L L-1000. If you know you know. Built at the time when Leo Fender was still alive. Who knows, maybe Leo actually built this one or handled it in any way during production.
The current Fender corporation bought G&L and decided to tank Leo’s legacy by disposing of the company, here is an opportunity to continue Leo’s legacy.
Mahogany Body (dated Jan 6 1981)
Maple neck (dated Feb 12 1981)
All original. Truss rod turns smoothly with plenty of life in the neck, no ski ramp.
Be aware, the body and neck have plenty of checking in the nitro finish Which is hard to see in the photos. The finish is by no means perfect, it’s aged its life time. There are small dings and scratches as well. The body and neck does have worn character to it and it’s been beautifully preserved In my opinion.
Plenty of fret life left. Total weight 9.8-9.9 lbs on a bathroom scale.
Just a beautiful bass with a powerful sound, vintage feel and smell.
Comes in a vintage hard shell case. Not sure if it’s the original case.
Will be packaged well. Contact me for any questions.
Please see pictures to see a better view of the condition of the bass. Don’t really want to part with this one but need to thin my herd.
