SoundID Reference measures your actual room and speakers and applies a correction that makes the frequency response flat across the audible range, so what you hear is the recording rather than the room. Sonarworks state the flat target is used by over 200,000 music creators.

WHY THE MULTICHANNEL EDITION COSTS MORE THAN THE STEREO ONE. It measures and calibrates systems FROM STEREO UP TO 9.1.6 CHANNELS, which is the immersive and Dolby Atmos case. WHAT THE APOLLO HALF ADDS. Ordinarily the correction runs as a plug-in or a system-wide app on your computer. The Apollo Monitor Correction Add-on applies it ON THE APOLLO X ITSELF, which means the calibration is there for everything the interface outputs rather than only for audio passing through your DAW, and it survives whatever software you happen to be running.
