The 1990 Fender JP-90 is a unique, short-lived hybrid electric bass guitar produced from 1990 to 1993. Designed by George Blanda, it was intended to be an affordable, modern, USA-assembled alternative to compete with contemporary sleek bass designs, blending characteristics of the Jazz Bass and the Precision Bass.
Specifications & Design
- Body Material: Poplar making the bass notably lightweight (8 lbs 12oz) and well-balanced.
- Neck Profile: A slim, fast-playing quartersawn maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, mimicking the narrow nut width and feel of a traditional Jazz Bass. It features 20 frets and a 34-inch scale length.
