The Zen-On Cadet (often spelled Zenon Cadet) is a highly collectible, rare electric guitar manufactured in Japan during the mid-1960s.
We have never seen a red example. Amazing space age style aesthetic with cool graphics on pickguard and see through Kleenex Box style pickups.
• The Build: It features a striking retro body shape characteristic of the 1960s Japanese "bizarre guitar" era.
• Electronics: It comes equipped with dual proprietary Zen-On logo'd pickups known for their distinct vintage, microphonic, or surf-rock chime.
• Hardware: Original configurations features a unique plastic pickguard, a chrome bridge cover, and a spring-loaded whammy/tremolo bar.
This example has both bridge and tailpiece covers and original whammy bar! Condition is very good with some minor finish dings as shown in pictures. Body is pancake style and there is some finish checking at seam but no separation.
Guitar has been fully serviced and setup with moderately low action of .080-.090 measured at 12th fret. Fretboard radius is flat so ultra low action is not realistic with this guitar. There is a slight, typical, fretboard rise at end of neck. Scale is approximately 24"
Even with no trussrod the neck is near straight with just the right amount of relief. Frets show no wear. Fretboard has been thoroughly cleaned and conditioned. Neck is a bit chunky but still easy to play.
All electronics cleaned with contact cleaner and function as designed. Rocker switches add extra tonal options with "clear/soft" and "rhythm/solo" settings. Guitar also comes with a nice gigbag.
