Up for sale is a classic piece of acoustic history: a Yamaha FG-140 Red Label, crafted at the legendary Nippon Gakki factory in Japan. If you know about these old "Red Labels," you know they are famous for punchy projection, warm woody tones, and build quality that stands the test of time.
Unlike most vintage Yamahas on the market that suffer from high, unplayable action, this guitar has been completely gone through, fully serviced, and tastefully upgraded. It plays like a dream and is ready for the stage or studio.
Work Performed & Upgrades:
- Premium Upgraded Nut & Saddle Upgraded from the cheap factory plastic to custom-fitted natural bone for maximum sustain, clarity, and note definition.
- Pro Fret Work: The frets have been fully leveled and polished smooth. No sharp edges or buzzing.
- Fretboard Rejuvenation: The fingerboard has been thoroughly cleaned and conditioned.
- Low Action Setup: The guitar has been meticulously setup with low, comfortable action, making it incredibly easy to play up and down the entire neck.
- Overhauled Hardware: The original open-gear tuners were completely removed, deeply cleaned, and lubricated.
- Bridge Pins: Outfitted with Ebony pins on the bass strings to keep the low end tight and warm and the highs clear but not tinny.
- Fresh Strings: Stringed up with a brand new set of Martin Retro strings that perfectly complement its woody, vintage voice.
Condition: The guitar is structurally sound with no cracks. The neck joint is tight and solid. Cosmetically, it shows minor age-appropriate wear (light dings/scratches as pictured) which only adds to its authentic 50-year-old vintage mojo.
