TONEX MAX is the TOP TIER of IK Multimedia's TONEX, the platform for capturing, playing and sharing guitar and bass tones using what IK call AI Machine Modeling. MAX carries up to 220 Tone Models, the largest set of the three versions.

TONEX works differently from a traditional amp simulator. Rather than modelling an amplifier circuit component by component, it CAPTURES A REAL RIG AS A TONE MODEL: a specific amp, with a specific pedal in front, through a specific cabinet and microphone, as that rig actually sounded on the day. You then play that capture.

You are not limited to the included models either. TONEX MODELER LETS YOU CAPTURE YOUR OWN GEAR, so a favourite amp or pedal can become a Tone Model you use in the box. ToneNET is IK's free sharing platform where TONEX users publish and download captures, and it is built into the software.

Version 2.0 rebuilt the interface around a single Home page that brings your gear, signal chain and library together. There is Smart Search across Tone Models, presets and collections, resizable floating browsers for amps, stomps, presets and collections, custom folders, favourites and recently used content.

Alongside the captures sit TONEX's own effects, a clear signal chain for building complete guitar and bass rigs, and support for VIR and custom impulse responses so you can swap cabinets.

It runs both as a standalone application for practising and as a plug-in in your DAW for recording, and it integrates with TONEX hardware and with AmpliTube 5 if you own them.

WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU BUY: TONEX is capture based. If you want component modelling of hundreds of individually modelled amps, cabs, pedals and rack effects that you assemble yourself, that is AmpliTube 5 MAX, a different IK product which we list separately.
