Killer 1964 Guild S-50 Jet-Star in its classic Cherry finish.
Purchased from its original owner, this is a fantastic example of one of Guild's earliest and most distinctive American-made solidbody electrics. The S-50 Jet-Star debuted as part of Guild's first solidbody family in the early 1960s alongside the S-100 Polara and S-200 Thunderbird.
Made in Hoboken, New Jersey, the early S-50 combined a solid mahogany body, set mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, single Guild pickup and Guild's unusual combination bridge/tailpiece into one wonderfully eccentric vintage electric guitar.
Serial #36749.
Most importantly, this is not simply a collector piece it is an excellent player.
The guitar received a professional refret within the last couple of years, leaving it with a fresh set of frets and making it an especially enjoyable vintage instrument to actually play.

CONDITION:
This guitar has been played, loved and enjoyed for more than six decades, and it wears that history beautifully.
There are numerous scratches, dings, small chips, edge wear and areas of finish loss throughout the body, along with normal aging and wear to the hardware. The Cherry finish has developed a wonderful worn-in appearance rather than looking artificially pristine.
The back of the neck is particularly cool. Years of playing have worn through portions of the Cherry finish, revealing the mahogany beneath and giving the neck a beautifully broken-in feel and appearance. This is finish/play wear rather than structural damage.
There is additional finish wear around the body edges and contours, including areas where the Cherry finish has worn through. Please see the detailed close up photographs, as we have intentionally documented this wear clearly.
The fingerboard also shows evidence of decades of playing, while the recent professional refret gives the guitar a fresh playing surface where it matters.
Most importantly, despite all of its honest cosmetic wear, we are not seeing any cracks, breaks or traumatic structural damage. The guitar remains structurally solid, plays extremely well and sounds fantastic.
This is exactly the sort of vintage guitar that begs to be played rather than hidden away in a case.
The single Guild pickup has a wonderfully direct and characterful voice, and the unusual pickup placement gives the S-50 a sound and feel all its own. Combined with the lightweight, sculpted mahogany body and worn-in neck, it makes for an exceptionally fun vintage player.
No case is included.
Please review all photographs carefully for the best representation of the considerable but honest cosmetic/play wear, finish loss, hardware patina and overall condition.
A seriously cool, beautifully worn 1964 Guild S-50 Jet Star with one owner provenance, a professional refret and more than 60 years of genuine playing history. Structurally solid, great sounding and ready to continue doing exactly what it was built to do.
