Steinberg WaveLab Pro 13 Mastering Software Dolby Atmos (Card)

WaveLab Pro is the mastering and audio editing suite Steinberg describe as the Swiss army knife of audio processing, and it is what a large part of the professional mastering world delivers from. Version 13 is a full stereo mastering platform and a complete Dolby Atmos mastering environment in the same application.

The Atmos side is the headline. The Master montage masters a single ADM file, built around an Immersive Plug-in Hub that lets standard VST 3 plug-ins work across up to 128 audio channels through one interface, with bed plug-ins, customisable sidechain routing, and loudness and True Peak normalisation. The Album montage then assembles multiple ADM files into one album master, sequenced like a stereo montage and visualised anywhere from stereo up to 9.1.6.

Version 13 is also noticeably faster. Full multicore support for Audio Montage elements processes several tasks at once, and Steinberg's own figure is that rendering ten titles now takes about ten percent of the time it used to.

The rest is the working detail that mastering engineers actually live in: tab synchronised playback for true A/B comparison across the multi-tab interface, sidechain routing from clip audio to track plug-ins, automatic colour rules for organising complex sessions, and envelope editing with clone editing, grouped fade editing and a fine control mode.
