A pristine example of a classic simple pedal

This is a ~1985 version of the DOD FX50, not the later FX50B
It uses the MC1458 IC
It is in excellent cosmetic condition with only 2 chips in the paint and 2 minor scuff marks
It is fully functional and sounds great

Original-series FX50 from late 1984, and "transition" FX50 from late 1988

The FX50 Overdrive Preamp was derived from DOD's highly-regarded 250 Overdrive Preamp. Its circuit was similar to the FX55 Distortion, sharing the same undersized (3.125" x 2.25") circuit board, but with somewhat less gain. The FX50 was one of the original ten DOD FX-series pedals that debuted in 1982. The introduction of the FX50B in early 1986 effectively meant the discontinuation of the FX50. However, we have seen at least one example of the FX50 with component date codes from late 1988 (shown above), suggesting it was briefly reissued around that time.
