Audio-Technica AT801 Microphone 1978 Vintage Omni Condenser XLR Japan Case

For Sale: Audio-Technica AT801 Microphone 1978 Vintage Omni Condenser XLR Japan Case

Vintage Audio-Technica AT801 omnidirectional electret condenser microphone from Audio-Technica's original 800 Series, introduced in 1978. Made in Japan and complete with its properly labeled AT801 fitted Audio-Technica storage case and branded Audio-Technica pouch.

Tested and working. The microphone sounded great during testing — clear, detailed and strong. This model requires a battery for operation. Battery is not included.

IMPORTANT: The male output connector assembly at the bottom of the microphone does not remain firmly secured inside the microphone body and can be pulled outward, as clearly shown in the photos. The microphone was still successfully tested and working with this condition present. The exact cause has not been diagnosed, and no attempt has been made to repair it. Please review the photos carefully.

Cosmetically, the microphone shows noticeable wear from age and use, including finish loss, scuffs, scratches, marks and discoloration along the metal body. The case and pouch also show age-related cosmetic wear. Despite the cosmetic wear and loose connector assembly, the microphone remains a great-sounding working example of an early Audio-Technica condenser.
