Up for sale is a genuinely rare piece of drum machine history: the Electro-Harmonix DRM-16 Digital Rhythm Matrix, part of EHX's original late-1970s "Digital Rhythm Matrix" lineup, housed in the iconic Memory Man-style enclosure. These were only produced for a short window before EHX moved on to other designs, and clean, complete examples rarely surface on the used market. Most that do turn up are missing the original box or show heavy wear from decades of use.

This one is the exception. It comes complete with its original box and 1970s-era logo/artwork fully intact — no fading, tears, or water damage — which is unusual for a unit this old. The pedal itself is just as clean: no scuffs or corrosion on the chassis, and every control still looks factory-fresh.

Functionally, it's even more impressive. Every pot is smooth and completely scratch/noise-free — no crackle, no dropout, no scratchy sweep when adjusting Volume, Tempo, Style, or Column. Vintage analog gear like this almost always has something — a noisy pot, a flaky jack, a dead LED — but this unit has been tested thoroughly and simply doesn't show the usual wear you'd expect from a machine of this age. It sounds as punchy and present as it likely did the day it left the factory, delivering those classic late-70s/early-80s funk, disco, rock, and country rhythm patterns.
