The Strymon NightSky is the kind of reverb pedal that invites you to stop thinking about reverb as an effect and start treating it as an instrument of its own. Its three reverb architectures range from sparse, discrete textures to dense, plate-like reflections and slow-building, diffuse washes, while the modulation section can move the reverb, pitch, or filter in everything from subtle waves to unpredictable shapes. Add the Voice section's shimmer, glimmer, octave shifting, and drive, and the NightSky can turn a simple guitar, bass, keyboard, or synth part into something enormous and completely immersive.

The real fun starts when you dig into the deeper controls. You can sculpt the reverb's tone with regenerative or synth-style filtering, stack harmonic effects, and use the two-octave interval control for everything from weighty sub-octave textures to shimmering, 12-string-like sounds. Then there's the built-in 8-step sequencer, which lets you program pitch intervals and move through them automatically or one step at a time, with adjustable portamento for everything from smooth glides to more dramatic pitch movement. Six modulation waveforms, an Infinite function, and independent dry and wet levels give you plenty of ways to push the pedal far beyond conventional ambience.

Despite all that depth, the NightSky is built to work in a real-world rig. Its analog JFET front end keeps your instrument signal responsive, while 32-bit floating-point SHARC processing handles the more elaborate effects. Stereo inputs and outputs, switchable instrument- and line-level operation, MIDI connectivity, and selectable true or buffered bypass make it equally at home with a pedalboard, studio setup, keyboard rig, or larger MIDI-controlled system. Sixteen favorite sounds are available directly from the pedal, with up to 300 user presets accessible over MIDI, so you can build an entire palette of atmospheric sounds without sacrificing the immediacy of a stompbox.
