I just love the simplicity of Ayotte engineering. No need for fussiness or extra moving parts, just keep it simple and execute it flawlessly. This drum does just that. With a simple yet elegant design, this little workhorse is the perfect do-it-all snare.
Incredibly sensitive and articulate with power and presence to spare, this snare is well suited for a wide range of musical styles and settings. It has a beautifully dry tone with just the right amount of bite. The rimshots are powerful, but not overwhelming. Nore delicate strokes and ghost notes never get lost in the mix. This snare really is perfect.
Weighing in at just over 10#, chrome on the shell is super shiny. All moving parts function exactly as they should. I completely disassembled the drum to clean and lubricate all pieces. Everything is exactly where it should be and the famous tune-lock system works perfectly. There is a small amount of corrosion on the rims and the tune-lock barrels, though nothing that effects function or tone in any way.
