The Schecter Hellraiser C-1 Quilt Maple Top, EMG Humbuckers, Black Cherry is a 6-string solid-body electric guitar from Schecter’s Hellraiser series, designed particularly around high-output rock and metal but capable of broader tones too

What you’re getting

• Body: Mahogany with a quilted maple top in Black Cherry. The maple top is largely for the striking figured appearance, while the mahogany body gives the guitar a thick, warm foundation.
• Neck: 3-piece mahogany, set-neck construction with Schecter’s Ultra Access heel for easier upper-fret access.
• Fingerboard: Rosewood with 24 extra-jumbo frets and the distinctive abalone Gothic Cross inlays.
• Scale: 25.5", the same basic scale length used on a Stratocaster.
• Pickups: Active EMG 81TW/89 humbuckers on the version currently listed by retailers. The 81TW/89 combination is high-output and well suited to distorted, tight, aggressive tones. Both pickup circuits have switching options for additional single-coil-style sounds.
• Bridge: TonePros Tune-o-matic-style bridge with through-body stringing, rather than a Floyd Rose on the standard C-1.
• Tuners: Schecter locking tuners.
• Controls: Two volume controls, tone control, 3-way pickup selector, with push/pull functionality for the pickup configuration.
• Hardware: Black chrome.
• Finish: Black Cherry with abalone binding.

What does it sound like?

Think tight, powerful, compressed active-pickup tone. The bridge EMG 81 is particularly associated with aggressive rhythm guitar and articulate high-gain lead playing. The neck EMG 89 gives you a somewhat fuller sound, while the additional switching expands its tonal range.
