MusicLab RealGuitar 6 Classic and Steel String Guitar VST (Card)

RealGuitar 6 is MusicLab's flagship virtual guitar, and version 6 is really TWO INSTRUMENTS IN ONE. Classic is the full set of MusicLab's original guitar models with new features added. Steel String is an entirely new sample set, with five patches and three tunings for each.

What separates RealGuitar from a sampled guitar library is that it is built to be PLAYED FROM A KEYBOARD and still sound like someone holding a guitar. Every fret of all six or seven strings is sampled, with up to 30 different samples for repeated notes so the same note played twice is not the same recording twice.

The articulations are the point. Up and down strokes, hammer-ons and pull-offs, legato, automatic and manual slides, tremolo, trill, automatic bends and reverse bends, unison bends, muted and slow strums, with adjustable strum speed and control over how many strings a strum actually uses. On top of that come the noises that sell it as a real instrument: pick noise, fret noise, release noise, buzz, slap, smacks and stop strums.

The chord engine translates what you play into real guitar shapes. Press one to four notes as a piano chord and RealGuitar turns it into a six voice guitar voicing in real time, recognising 30 chord types including sus2, sus4, 6/9, 7th, 9th and altered chords, across four positions on the neck, drawing on about 2,000 guitar chord shapes. There is a chord editor if you want to change the fingerings yourself.

Song Mode is the songwriting half of the instrument. A built-in Song Track lets you construct guitar parts, with a Style Filter for finding patterns by musical criteria, a chord selector, import of whole chord sets from a web page or text document, and export of the finished track as a standard MIDI file. The pattern library holds 1,250 guitar rhythm patterns that lock to your host's tempo and time signature, and you can drag one straight onto a MIDI track.

Version 6 also opens up the amp side: it supports external VST3 guitar effects processors, and ships over 200 presets for the open source Guitarix virtual amp, bundled with each guitar. Settings for the guitar and the effects processor save and recall together as one.
