Just arrived via trade in! This is the first PRS DGT I’ve had the pleasure of playing. I’ve owned many PRS’s in my life, and the DGT has always intrigued me with its unique specs. It’s one of the few PRS guitars I know of that comes with jumbo frets, which is what initially drew me to this model. Under the hood, we have a pickup control scheme with 2 volumes, a 3-way switch, and a coil tap via the tone knob. This might be the most playable, versatile PRS out there!

The DGT (David Grissom Trem) is the result of more than 20 years of collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom. The DGT is based on the McCarty platform with a unique DGT neck shape, taller frets, specially-voiced pickups, and a revised control layout. Grissom and Paul spent a year A/B-ing more than forty sets of pickups before nailing the vintage-voice of DGT humbuckers. When paired with individual volume controls for each pickup and a push/pull master tone control that operates the coil taps, DGT pickups provide versatility and articulation.

 

How Does It Play

The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action sits at just over 4/64” on the low E string, and right at 4/64” on the high E string, measured at the 12th fret.
