For your Consideration - A 1970s Ludwig Vistalite in Blue: 12 x 8 and 13 x 9 rack toms, 16 x 16 floor tom, 22 x 14 bass drum. This is the acrylic kit Ludwig built its reputation on in the seventies — the one Bonham played, the one every drummer still stop to look at. Nobody makes a drum that looks like this under stage lights. Nobody makes one that sounds like this either — big, bright, and loud, with the kind of attack you can't get out of wood.

There's player grade and there's musician grade. Player grade is a kit you buy and then spend three weekends fixing. Musician grade is a kit you set up and play the gig. This one is musician grade. The shells have been fully torn down and the bearing edges cut to dual 45s, so they tune up and hold a note the way a fresh kit should. Everything on it that wears out or fails on a fifty-year-old drum has been replaced.

This is not a born-together kit. The shells were matched from more than one set. The acrylic has light scratches and scuffs you'd expect from seventies drums that were actually played. No cracks. The internal mufflers are gone — most players pull them anyway. Everything you see in the photos is exactly what you get.
