I reached out to one of our extremely knowledgeable veterans and the information about this instrument is the BEST I can do to verify it. I was told the horns are believed to have been bought in the ‘80s. They were made for the Corps by Ron Collier. Collier who was one of the earlier Americans making natural trumpets and the like. Our band did not use the Colliers for too long as they were one of the first editions of trumpets made for our unit as the trumpet section was still developing. The Colliers are in D @440 and have 1 hole to help with F and A.

Description:
Up for sale is an incredibly rare, museum-quality piece of American military music history: a custom-made, professional ceremonial natural military trumpet manufactured by the legendary Ron Collier Musical Instruments specifically for The United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps.  I have asked many of the top manufacturers and they have told be the following information.

Instrument Details & Architecture:

• Manufacturer: Ron Collier (Custom Builder / Former Schilke Craftsman)
• Designation: Professional Baroque Natural Trumpet (1-Hole Nodal Vent System)
• Key/Pitch: Pitched in D at modern standard A=440Hz. These historical reproduction horns were one of the first custom editions made for the unit as the trumpet section was still developing. To assist the player with notoriously difficult harmonics, a single nodal vent hole is integrated under the wrap to help stabilize and correct modern F and A.
• Finish: Original high-grade, heavy silver plating.
• Engravings: The bell is beautifully and ornately engraved with the official unit script: "The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps".
• Military Serial/Markings: In accordance with elite federal military contracts, this horn features no commercial branding or standard consumer serial numbers. It features exclusively the original military-issued inventory/rack stamp "10" near the receiver, which was used to assign this exact instrument to its specific soldier-musician in the unit.

The trumpet is in great structural condition, preserved in its original custom, blue plush-lined hard velvet travel case. The silver plating retains a brilliant luster, showing only light, authentic wear/tarnish consistent with ceremonial military field use. The custom engraving is perfectly crisp, clear, and sharp. The unit has not been tested for functionality.
