A 2017 PRS McCarty 594 Singlecut out of the Wood Library program. Korina body, korina neck, Brazilian rosewood board, and a flame maple top that runs yellow up at the top horn through orange and red. Born on 9/14/17, the hang tag and the PRS Brazilian rosewood CITES letter are both still with i. It's spent of it's life in it's case and has never been played live or left my home studio.

Condition: Excellent. No dings, no dents, no chips, no finish cracks, no buckle rash. There are small polish marks in the gloss, the kind a guitar picks up from getting wiped down. I call those out again below. 8.2 lbs. Shipping from Newport Beach, California.

What Wood Library means on this one. Wood Library is PRS's dealer special-order program. A signature dealer has to travel to the factory in Stevensville, hand-pick actual boards off the racks, and commit to a run of ten. You can't order one out of a catalog. On this guitar it bought three upgrades over a standard McCarty 594 Singlecut: korina instead of mahogany for the body and the neck, Brazilian rosewood instead of East Indian for the fretboard, and a top somebody picked by hand.

The Brazilian is the bigger deal of the two woods. PRS hasn't been able to buy new Brazilian since it was listed under CITES in 1992, so every board they cut comes out of a pre-ban stock that doesn't get replaced. The signed letter from Paul Reed Smith documenting it is in the case and goes with the guitar.

Tone and feel. The 58/15 LT is the low-turn set PRS built specifically for this model, and it's why a 594 doesn't sound like a hot modern humbucker guitar. Wound light, clear up top, and it cleans up when you roll the volume back instead of just going dull. The coil taps are worth using, which isn't always true of coil taps.

Korina's lighter and more open than mahogany, and on this guitar that shows up as a quicker attack and more air behind the note. The Brazilian board tightens up the low strings. At 8.2 lbs it hangs fine for a singlecut.

Pattern Vintage is the wide-fat carve, a real handful without being a baseball bat. If you've played a late-fifties Les Paul and liked the neck, you'll know where you are. It's a blues and classic rock guitar, and it rewards you for playing it with your hands instead of your gain knob.

Modification, read this part. The original strap buttons were swapped for gold Schaller strap locks.

Condition detail, the polish marks. There are small polish marks in the gloss. They're what you get from wiping a gloss guitar down, they're hard to catch in a photo, and they turn up at certain angles under direct light. They don't affect playability or tone. I'm calling them out so nothing surprises you when the case opens.
