Up for consideration is a 1962 Goya (Levin) F-27 'Goliath' 12-fret guitar and case. Made in Sweden.

She is in Very Good to Excellent condition. A few minor nicks/dings; 1 repaired side crack, finish checking/crazing.

This is a fairly rare Levin-era Goya F27 jumbo dreadnaught, nicknamed 'Goliath'.  Specs include an Alpine spruce top, flame maple body stained a nice tobacco brown;  mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge. 

She is in remarkable original condition;  there are no cracks or repairs in the top or back.  The bass side lower bout 'waist' has a small (3") crack which has been repaired and is secure. All binding is present and intact; the original mylar pickguards have shrunken a bit, and you can see slight 'tan lines' on the top and bottom of each pickguard. There is virtually zero fret wear.

She is very light, at just over 4lbs 2oz,  It has a 1 7/8” nut width along with a 24 3/4” scale length. The neck measures .790 to .870 thick at the 1st and 9th frets. It has a very flat fingerboard radius and a D shaped neck profile with a flat apex, similar to a classical guitar.  This guitar was designed for either nylon or steel strings, and she has been strung with a set of light (11-47) phosphor bronze strings.

She currently has medium action, measuring 9/64ths at the 12th fret, with .012" relief in the neck. There is a little room at the saddle to lower the action slightly. However, the string height in front of the tall bridge is slightly over 1/2", with a deep saddle slot.  I was tempted to simply shave the bridge top a bit to allow the saddle to be lowered, but in the end, I opted to leave it original, and leave the decision to the new owner, especially if the desire is to re-string with nylon strings.

The guitar has a nice, big sound with plenty of volume and a pure acoustic tone. She plays easy, with the short scale allowing easy fretting and barre chords. 

I have performed the following repairs:

• small crack on the bass side lower waist. The approx 3" long repair is clean and solid, and has been repaired with Tite-Bond original. The crack is along the curve of the lower bout; mating sides on a curved repair is difficult but the edges of the crack mated well, with one side just slightly proud of the other.
• Restring/setup.

Aside from the above, she is in original condition, there are no loose braces, un-repaired cracks, or other repairs to worry about.

A note on 'action and playability': every guitar's action (the string height at the 12th fret), relief (the amount of forward curve of the fretboard), and playability (the ease with which notes and chords are fretted) will be different depending on the guitar's setup. What is ideal for one person might not suit another, and any adjustment is understood to be the responsibility of the owner. The measurements and description I have provided are accurate and setup references are to my tastes, and may not be yours.
