I am the original owner of this 8 x 8 usb interface. It’s worked flawlessly in my home studio for 20+ years, but sadly is no longer supported under modern operating system systems.
I was able to run it under windows 10 using unsupported legacy drivers from Steinberg, however, no such luck under windows 11.
the Steinberg MIDEX 8 USB MIDI interface, it is now officially legacy/unsupported hardware. Steinberg’s own legacy-driver page lists the last officially provided drivers for:
- Windows: Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 (64-bit)
- Mac: OS X 10.5 through 10.9
- Steinberg explicitly describes these as unofficial drivers with no technical support.
This the optional external power supply but no USB cable.
