Dean Markley RM-80-SR Head

A truly GREAT 80-watt hybrid amp that needs some TLC, with spring reverb in a 19" 2U rack format.

12AX7 tube-driven FET clean preamp with an awesome switchable drive preamp circuit with its own master volume (like having 2 channels, clean and crunchy), super-useful and unusual active EQ controls (boost/cut) and a monster solid state power amp section.

Capable of getting insanely loud, yet still completely articulate. It's both amazing and concerning, how loud this amp can get and still stay clean (or crunchy).

All rear panel jacks work fine (effects loop, reverb footswitch, drive circuit footswitch, preamp output, power amp input, speakers). Footswitch not included, but any double latching footswitch will work for switching reverb and drive circuit in and out.

Issue with the Stand By switch that still passes significant signal* even when off and also sometimes causes some electrical scratchy noises ... and sometimes they gets pretty crazy. Another issue is an audible hum all the time as soon as the amp is turned on. Has cosmetic dings, missing screws, broken/cracked cable wrap horns, replaced electrical plug, replacement preamp tube, replaced drive circuit volume potentiometer and it needs a general inspection/tidying up.

*Stand By switch normally "keeps it warm" by stashing the signal potential in a capacitor, so there's always some expected bleed-through, but this switch passes too much signal, so there's something else.

And yet, even with all of that, it is a GREAT-sounding amp, when it's behaving.

Video is audio of this same amp recorded 09/17/2026 that includes sounds of (1) turn amp on with thump and hum, (2) clean channel, (3) with reverb, (4) drive circuit, (5) noisy potentiometer, (6) Stand By switch turned off but still signal and (7) brief electrical noise that sometimes gets crazy, but not in this demo. Generally needs a visit to a decent amp repair shop. Amp head only.
