This fine German copy form the workshop of Ernst Heinrich Roth indicative of the Italian Masters work. Labeled copy of Antonio Stradivarius making it a grade XR Roth the highest before the XIR the top model at the time made by Ernst Heinrich Roth himself. There is no accompanying paperwork or documentation as the records kept at the firm only go back to 1925. There is no claim of authenticity just the brand and label. The instrument is newly fitted with bridge , ebony fittings (original) and strings. No open cracks or seams and is in exceptional playing condition.

The top is a fine grained spruce top of two slabs bookmatched in the center joint. A fine spruce bridge is a professional Despiau Supérieur "3-Tree" Made in France, set up with Dominant strings.
The back is a quarter cut two pice maple of extremely gorgeous high figure with sides, neck and delicately carved scroll of similar timbers.
The purfling is exceptionally done across the top and back. All corners are in tact as well as edges.
The varnish is a golden bright red with a lovely under huge of golden yellow orange. Indicative of the Roth's made at the period for the American market.
The tone is deep rich and warm, dark and complex whether a copy or original Roth it is indicative of the Markneukirchen workshops fine craftsmanship highly sought after by collectors and players for over a century. Among the best violins we have had the opportunity to offer at a reasonable price.
Repairs: The only repair noted is a side crack which is sealed on the top treble corner cleated and sealed and the neck was reset which is a common repair retaining it's original characteristics and raised back to standard length without compromising the integrity of the neck joint. These are the only visible repairs on this very fine fiddle.
