This well preserved 1962 Fender Jaguar comes from the first month of production of the model: January 1962. This first batch of Jaguars has a couple of interesting features including a 9 hole pickguard (one fewer than standard), slightly different ground lead for the pickup shielding claw, slot screws to adjust the pickup height, and 1 1/2" nut width. Both the neck heel and the tremolo cavities are marked "1/62" in grease pencil underneath the finish. The example retains all its original finish, solder, and parts but is currently using a replacement neck shim and foam for a comfortable set up. It's just come out of the storage unit of who we believe was the original owner after they passed.

Measurements: 8.3lbs (3.75 kg) total weight. The neck measures 1.51" wide at the nut, 0.80" deep at the first fret, and 0.98" deep at the 12th fret (slim taper profile).

Dates: The neck heel stamp reads "1/62". The potentiometer codes read "304 6121" where 304 = Stackpole (manufacturer code), 61 = 1961, and 21 = 21st week.

Originality: All finish, solder, and parts are original to this guitar. There's a full pocket shim in the neck pocket and new foam installed under the pickups for an optimum set up.

Playability: Excellent! The neck is straight, frets have no wear, and the electronics operate as intended.

Condition: Good with light wear. The bass side body seam has a 1.6" long hairline split, but the seam itself is 100% solid and shows no sign of movement. The tolex on the lid of the case had some sharpie removed which has left some smudged marks.

Included: The original brown Tolex case is included.

Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
