For sale is a Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue (R9) Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged in Cherry Sunburst.
This guitar is mint and unplayed, aside from normal handling for inspection and photos. It has never been gigged and has been carefully stored since purchase.
The Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged treatment on this particular guitar is exceptional. The nitrocellulose lacquer has beautiful, natural-looking checking throughout that gives it the appearance of a carefully preserved vintage Les Paul without the heavier wear associated with the more aggressively aged Murphy Lab finishes. The Cherry Sunburst finish looks fantastic over the figured maple top and changes character beautifully depending on the lighting and viewing angle.
As an R9, this is Gibson Custom Shop's recreation of the legendary 1959 Les Paul Standard, featuring period-correct construction and appointments, a carved maple top, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, historically inspired hardware and electronics, and the highly regarded Murphy Lab aged nitro finish.
The guitar is being sold exactly as it came from Gibson with all original case candy, paperwork, COA, tags and original hardshell case included.
The pickguard was carefully removed for the photographs to better showcase the figured maple top. It is included and will remain removed and safely packed for shipping so there is no risk of it rubbing against or marking the finish during transit. No modification has been made to the guitar.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for an essentially untouched Murphy Lab R9 with particularly attractive checking and a classic Cherry Sunburst finish.
