This is a (extremely) rare Gibson C-1s Classical with original brown ‘alligator’ case from 1967. The guitar is like the normal Gibson C-1 Classical, but much lighter-built and smaller. It's a 3/4-size instrument with a short, 22 3/4" scale length. The top is solid spruce and it has solid mahogany back, sides, and neck. The fan-bracing is very light. The nut is ebony and saddle is bone. The serial number on the back of the headstock and on the paper inside the body is 330282 indicating that it was made in 1967 in Kalamazoo USA. It is an extremely rare series because of the small size. It's in excellent structural shape, the neck angle is good and there's plenty of saddle height. There is one glued and stable crack in the lower body running parallel with the spruce (see the last 3 pictures). Action is very nice and it has a really good tone. The sound is round and full.

Gibson Sales Europe writes

"This is the C-1S, which basically stands for 'short', it was 13 1/4 inch wide, rather than 14 1/2 inch wide. It was only made between 1961-66 in our Kalamazoo factory in Michigan. The C-1 had the following specs from what I can find out-
- Mahogany back and sides
- 2 rectangular bridge inlays
- rosewood fingerboard
- zero fret
- ebony nut
Further information I have come across informs me that the decal peghead logo was only introduced in 1964, and yours seems to have this. As such I am thinking your guitar is from 1964-66. This is really my best guess based on the photos and info I have."
