Hive Hornet Tenor Ukulele #13015 – Spruce / Mahogany – Gold Waverly Tuners – Ameritage Case
Beautiful handcrafted Hive Hornet tenor ukulele by luthier Jake Maclay, serial #13015.
Jake Maclay is a highly regarded American luthier who previously worked with Rick Turner building Compass Rose ukuleles before establishing Hive Ukuleles. His Hornet instruments are individually built and known for their distinctive design, excellent craftsmanship and beautiful tonewood combinations.
Based on the appearance of this instrument and documented comparable Hive builds, we believe this example features a solid spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides. The spruce top has tight, straight grain with subtle natural figuring, while the back and sides display a beautiful warm reddish-brown color beneath the gloss finish.
The instrument is beautifully appointed throughout with a dark ebony fingerboard and bridge, decorative multi-wood rosette, contrasting binding and purfling, and a dark headstock face. A particularly nice appointment is the set of premium gold Waverly open-gear tuning machines with dark buttons.
