Vintage 1970s Japanese-made J.D. Lee copy bass, built in the classic Jazz Bass style and finished in Natural.
This is a great-looking vintage MIJ bass featuring a natural-finish body, maple neck and maple fingerboard with black block inlays, tortoise-style pickguard, dual single-coil pickups, three-knob control layout, chrome hardware, and the large vintage-style bridge cover.
The neck plate is clearly stamped “MADE IN JAPAN.” The back of the headstock also retains an old Heck Music Co. dealer marking from 1793 East Main Street, Ventura, California, adding some interesting Southern California vintage history to the instrument.
This bass is commonly referred to as a J.D. Lee copy bass / Japanese Jazz Bass copy. There is no Fender branding on the instrument, and it is being represented and sold as a vintage Japanese copy, not as a Fender.
The bass shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with its age, including scratches, small marks, finish wear and other signs of use. There are also several small clear finish/repair spots visible on the back of the body, all shown closely in the photos. Chrome hardware shows normal age-related wear and surface scratching.
The natural finish and black block-inlay maple fingerboard give this bass a particularly attractive late-'60s/1970s Jazz Bass appearance.
