Fender Japan ST-62 Stratocaster — K015916 — 1990/91 FujiGen
Early ’90s Fender Japan ST-62 made at FujiGen, serial K015916, with STD-62 stamped in the neck pocket.
Really cool example with an unusual setup: it has a matching set of three Fender USA Texas Special pickups. The previous owner had experimented with a different bridge pickup, but kept the original. I rewired the original three back when I bought it and everything is working properly. It has been my player guitar since the Pandemic.
Specs:
* Fender Japan ST-62
* Made in Japan / FujiGen
* K015916, circa 1990/91
* STD-62 neck pocket stamp
* Rosewood fingerboard
* Vintage-style tuners and 6-point tremolo
* 3-ply pickguard
* Aged blue/blue-green finish
* Three matching Fender USA Texas Special pickups
Also has a handful of finish related discrepancies due to the nature of how they finished these guitars. Very cool. The paint itself is fine. The second to last owner (prior to whom I bought it from) used the guitar in a classic rock band and had owned it for several years. The early K-series/STD-62 combination and unusual pickup configuration make this an interesting one for anyone into early Fender Japan guitars.
