Up for sale is an incredibly rare piece of acoustic guitar history: a first-year, 100% authentic Yamaha FG-150 "Light Green Label" from January 1967.
This guitar has some normal wesr and tear for a 60 yo guitar. Minor marks, pick guard as limited peeling. 4 mm on 12th fret. I do not know if the neck has been reset at any time prior to me owning it.
Historical Authenticity Notes:
• Label: Original Light Green label, which has naturally aged into a beautiful vintage greenish-tan/pistachio patina over the last 60 years.
• Headstock: Period-correct plain "YAMAHA" text logo with no tuning forks, unique to the very earliest 1966–1967 production runs.
• Case: Includes the original, form-fitting 1960s Japanese Yamaha "Rocket" case with the highly coveted original yellow/orange felt liner. The original case shows vintage wear expected with its age and has one broken hinge, but it still fits the guitar like a glove and protects it perfectly.
Condition & Playability:
• Acoustic Action: Picture provided of mm on 12th fret. The string action is structurally stable and completely playable for first-position folk chords and strumming.
