This is an outstanding quality made wood 8 lug Premier (5 or 5.5x14) snare with parallel-action strainer system designed to pull snare wires evenly across the bottom head rather than dropping them to the side via gravity. Because the wires are pulled perfectly flat against the head, they don't bounce wildly or choke the drum. The decay is short, snappy, and controlled, eliminating the long, sloppy rattle found on standard drop-strainers.
This is an incredible sounding drum. It's a crisp, hyper-articulate, and sensitive sounding snare. You get an instant snare response at any dynamic level, from a soft whisper with brushes to a heavy punch with sticks.
The drum is in great condition. No issues. The wood shell is in fantastic condition. No extra holes or any modifications. The hardware has typical blemishes that you would see from a 1970's Premier snare drum. Not much use on this drum.
Note: To me, it seems like a 5x14 but for some reason the British like to call it 5.5x14. So it's one or the other.
