The Akai GX-270D-SS is a classic 4-channel Quadraphonic / Stereo reel-to-reel tape deck manufactured in Japan from 1976 to 1980. Built around Akai's legendary wear-resistant GX Glass & X'Tal Crystal Heads (4 heads total) and a robust 3-motor drive system featuring a direct-drive AC servo capstan motor, this deck supports up to 7-inch reels at standard speeds of 7 ½ and 3 ¾ ips.

It features Akai's Quadra Sync capability, allowing individual track monitoring and 4-channel sound, along with 4 independent mic/line inputs, dual-VU meter monitoring, and automatic reverse playback in 2-channel stereo mode. Delivering a frequency response of 30 Hz to 21,000 Hz (±3dB) at 7 ½ ips and exceptionally low wow and flutter (<0.07%).
