Bought this from a shop here on Reverb about a month ago to use for a project. After receiving it and going over the guitar, I can't bring myself to tear it down for the project. Except for a couple very small minor surface marks, one being the size of a pen tip (see picture 8), this is more of a collectors grade than a 35 year old played guitar.
Even the toggle feels new-comes with the pictured case candy and Generation 3 molded case that I wouldn't be surprised if the original owner bought it at the same time. The Gen. 3 cases came from the same time period.
Plays and sounds great-you can tell it's been hardly played.
The specs and description below were from the shop I bought it from. They had it listed as a 1994 but when I researched, I see it's a 1990-1991 according to the last picture.
I don't know that much about Fender Japan models except for the incredible quality.
Sold as I bought it, no modifications by me and no returns. Let me know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
Here's the description and details from the shop I bought it from:

Description
This 1994 Japanese made Fender ST-54 EX is in near perfect shape.
When it came on to the store it was in unplayed Condition with the plastic still on the pickguard. We removed that and set the guitar up. It plays perfect and shows no signs of use.
The electronics and pickups are also all original and work and sound great.
The neck, frets, and action are all spot on and every not rings loud and clear. The neck profile is a very comfortable soft V shape. One of our favorite profiles.
