The Rooster 2 is your gateway to a world of exceptional audio control. This 2-channel all-valve preamp offers EQ and distortion controls designed for a wide array of applications, delivering a rich spectrum of tones, harmonic distortion, and subtle dynamic manipulation.

**Pre-Amp Section:** The Rooster 2 empowers you to add gain to mic, line, or DI input signals with ease. A double triode input valve (12AX7) ensures a smooth, balanced gain stage after the input transformer.

**Phantom Power:** Activate 48 volts of phantom power for your mics using a dedicated toggle switch. For DI input, the transformer is bypassed, providing a high-impedance unbalanced input.

**Attitude Control:** The 'Attitude' section lets you fine-tune the level of distortion produced by the 5654 valve. Even at low Attitude settings, the Rooster 2 maintains a natural distortion figure well below 0.1%. As you increase Attitude, you introduce additional harmonics, imbuing your sound with a warm, valve-driven character.

**Harmonic Shaping:** Similar to the Culture Vulture, the Rooster 2 excels in producing harmonics. In 'Triode' mode, it tends to emphasize 2nd-order harmonics, while 'Pentode' mode leans toward 3rd-order harmonics. This offers dynamic control over your input signal's tone and harmonics, allowing you to select the type and amount of harmonics present.

**EQ Control:** The Rooster 2's EQ section provides a straightforward yet potent means of shaping your audio's frequency content:

**Bass Lift Control:** Adjust bass levels smoothly with a unique 'varislope' curve peaking at 60Hz.

**Mid/High Lift Control:** Tailor your sound with a bell-type curve, offering variable gain at either 2.5KHz or 4KHz, or a 'varislope' curve peaking at 12KHz, selectable via the frequency switch.

**Mid Cut Control:** Fine-tune your audio with a bell-type curve centered at 700Hz, offering continuous control over the amount of cut.

**Bass Cut Control:** Choose from 5 positions with distinct cutting curves, starting as high-pass filters and transitioning into shelving curves as you advance the switch. These controls interact seamlessly for versatile frequency range control.

**Low Pass Filter (LPF):** This switchable control allows you to cut high frequencies at an adjustable frequency, reducing harsh harmonics when employing higher levels of distortion for a smoother sound.

**Output and Balancing:** The output level control manages the signal sent to the PCF 80 output valve, and the final signal is balanced through a Sowter custom-made transformer. A 3-LED display visually represents the output signal level.
