[Features]
The D-35 is one of Martin's iconic dreadnought models. Featuring a distinctive 3-piece rosewood back, it offers unique aesthetics and tone that set it apart from the D-28.
Crafted with a Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides, this guitar delivers a solid, focused core with rich low-end and expansive mid-to-high frequencies, complemented by a hint of sweetness. Chords ring out with fullness and resonance, while fingerpicking reveals articulate note definition with multidimensional depth.
This specific instrument features key 1970s Martin specifications: a non-adjustable Square Rod (SQ rod) neck and non-scalloped bracing. The SQ rod contributes to a bold, punchy core, while the non-scalloped bracing adds stability and powerful punch to the low-mids, producing an authentic and mature 1970s Martin tone.
Having aged for nearly 50 years, the wood has developed a settled, rounded warmth that only time can impart, offering vintage character distinct from modern production models.
[Condition]
- Cosmetic wear consistent with its age, including dings, scratches, top aging/yellowing, finish checking/wear, gloss on the back of the neck, and tarnishing on the tuners.
- Repair/maintenance history: Neck reset, refret, replaced nut, replaced saddle, top crack repair, and replaced pickguard.
*The top crack beneath the pickguard has been cleated/patched from the inside.
*There is a check/crack near the upper bout on the 6th-string side where the arm rests, but it is limited to the finish and does not penetrate the wood.
*Due to slight distortion in the top wood, the replacement pickguard shows some waviness/distortion.
- Frets show minor wear in the lower positions, with approximately 90% remaining.
- Neck rod: Square Rod (non-adjustable).
- Neck is currently slightly bowed (slight relief). String action at the 12th fret is approximately 2.6 mm on the 6th string and 2.1 mm on the 1st string.
- Remaining saddle height: approximately 3.5 mm on the 6th string side and 3.5 mm on the 1st string side.
*Setup with light gauge strings (.012–.054).
