A Hammerfall DSP system with both halves included: the breakout box, the matching PCI card, and the host cable that connects them. The breakout box is badged Nuendo Audiolink 96 Digiset with the Steinberg logo on the front, and the rear panel carries the RME logo and "Made in Germany" — an RME-built unit sold under the Steinberg name.
RME still publishes current drivers for the Hammerfall DSP system. The Windows driver is version 4.62, dated January 2026, covering Windows 10 and 11 on x64 and Arm. The macOS DriverKit driver is version 1.15, dated July 2026, covering macOS 12 and newer on Intel and Apple Silicon.
Included
- Nuendo Audiolink 96 Digiset breakout box
- RME Hammerfall DSP PCI Interface Card, Rev 1.4
- 6-pin host cable connecting the card to the breakout box
No box, no manual, no software.
Condition
Cosmetically very good. Clean panels and lettering on the breakout box, and the card looks clean in the photos.
Sold as untested. I do not have a machine with a PCI slot, so I cannot power it up. It was working when it was last in service. I believe the included cable is the correct host cable for this pair but I have not been able to confirm that. The price reflects the uncertainty.
Connections on the breakout box
- Three ADAT optical inputs and three ADAT optical outputs, 24 channels at 48 kHz
- S/PDIF coaxial in and out on RCA
- Word clock in and out on BNC
- ADAT Sync input on 9-pin D-sub
- Two MIDI inputs and two MIDI outputs
- 1/4 inch headphone and line output on the front
- Front panel status LEDs for word clock, S/PDIF, the three ADAT inputs, MIDI, and host
- 24-bit, up to 96 kHz
Note: the card is PCI, not PCI Express. Your machine needs a conventional PCI slot.
