Up for sale is an extremely rare 1961 Autor 3 Série Artística. This was the first year for the Autor 3 and as such had some interesting characteristics only found in this year such as the dark stained neck, dark headstock with carving, deeper body, unique fretboard and 7 fan bracing inside. The guitar features a solid thin spruce top, solid straight grained Brazilian rosewood sides and a very nicely figured Brazilian rosewood back. The BRW on this one is the best I’ve seen on a Di Giorgio! The tone and volume on this guitar are impressive to say the least.
The sound quality, woods used and craftsmanship are superior on these early 60‘s Di Giorgio compared to any other year after. This particular instrument is signed by Reinaldo Proetti and also hand written “Dicipulo De Romeo Di Giorgio” indicating this may be one of the first he made along side Romeo. A true piece of Bossa nova history.
Scale length 654mm, nut width is 51mm.This guitar comes with a custom case made in Sao Paulo. Weight is 1450 grams. This is for the serious collector and player alike!
This guitars action was recently restored by expert luthier and master restorer David Laplante. The action now is super low and fast (See photos). It truly is a dream to play bossa nova on now!!
Please ask any questions! I ship only in the CONUS.
