Universal Audio Apollo 16 QUAD – Original Silver Generation – Thunderbolt 1

Offered here is an exceptionally preserved Universal Audio Apollo 16 QUAD original silver-generation audio interface with the original Universal Audio Thunderbolt 1 Option Card installed.

This unit is in NEW-OLD-STOCK, UNUSED condition.

It was purchased new and has never been put into normal studio service, installed permanently in a working rack, toured, or subjected to the cosmetic wear normally found on original-generation Apollo interfaces.

It has been carefully stored and includes its original factory packaging, along with a new Thunderbolt cable and Thunderbolt 3 adapter.

This is an unusually clean example of the original professional Apollo 16 platform and would be particularly attractive to a studio looking for substantial analog I/O, UAD-2 QUAD processing, or an additional Apollo interface for an existing Thunderbolt-based UA system.

Condition

The interface itself is unused and exceptionally clean.

Unlike the majority of first-generation Apollo 16 interfaces now on the used market, this unit has not accumulated years of rack rash, scratches, worn controls or studio wear.

The Apollo 16 was specifically designed for professional studios that already use external microphone preamps, consoles and outboard equipment. Unlike Apollo models with integrated microphone preamps, the Apollo 16 concentrates its connectivity on high-channel-count professional line-level conversion.

Thunderbolt / Current Mac Compatibility

This unit has the original Universal Audio Thunderbolt 1 Option Card installed.

Universal Audio continues to support first-generation silver Apollo and Apollo 16 interfaces equipped with a Thunderbolt Option Card on current macOS systems.

On Macs equipped with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5 USB-C-style ports, an Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter is required in addition to the appropriate Thunderbolt cable.

Important for Windows users: Universal Audio states that the original Thunderbolt 1 Apollo Option Card is not compatible with Windows. This configuration is best suited to Mac systems. Windows buyers should verify their intended configuration with Universal Audio before purchase.

UAD Registration

The Apollo can be registered by its new owner to a Universal Audio account. This sale does not include my separately purchased UAD plug-in library.

Under Universal Audio's current used-hardware policy, used Apollo hardware can be registered to a new owner's account, and the appropriate included Analog Classics bundle is provided by Universal Audio when eligible used UAD hardware is registered.

Original silver Apollo 16 interfaces are increasingly found with years of studio use, rack wear, missing packaging and missing documentation.

This example has never been put into normal studio service and retains its original packaging and documentation.
