Vintage 1940's RCA MI-12017 dynamic microphone High Z w cable & Snyder DM-1 stand prop display

  You are looking at a somewhat rare RCA (MI-12017) dynamic microphone first produced in the early 1940's (possibly late 30's) I believe and manufactured up until the mid to mid 1950's. It has that classic "Bullet mic" design that was very futuristic and elegant for it's time. It comes with the original shortened cable and equally nice Snyder DM-1 model desk stand shown in which to display.

 Pic # 2 shows this very microphones as well as the mic stand in an old 1940's RCA catalog but I don't have a better data sheet of the mic. Just the stand that it sits on.

 This mic is really going to pop anywhere it may be displayed or used. 

 It should be noted right away that this mic has been tested and has an original element but the element has a weak working signal so this should be used for display, prop or repair purposes only. The output is only about 25% and very tinny in nature. The MI-12017 mic came with a high Z setting. These older dynamic type mics were generally set this way. 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                          This classic MI-12017 mic has a nice two tone Umber brown painted finish. These mics either came in chrome or umber grey paint. The chrome version seems to be much rarer and was probably more expensive because of the finish which would explain it's rarity. There are just small scratches and small scuff marks on the mic itself but much nicer than one would expect on a mic of this age. The front grill on this mic has a few bent ribs which is very typical of these models but none of them are fractured. My advice to whomever buys this mic is to NOT push the ribs or try to straighten them as they are quite fragile and they do break if you put to much pressure on them. Just leave the ribs alone and you'll be fine. The white silk inner screen is stained but there are no odors or rips.

 The mic has a short original 12 inch original cable. The cable is still somewhat soft and pliable with no physical damage. The vintage Cannon male XLR end connector is properly wired in case you ever replace the element with something working. The Cannon connector shows no wear and again, work perfectly. 

 The mic also has the original lower adapter that will allow you to screw this mic onto any stand you have if you don't like the Snyder stand provided. 

 Mic is an easy 6 + on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department though some would rate higher.

 The stand is a nice Snyder DM-1 model from the 1950's era and perfect for just about any older vintage microphone. The design and base has a deco vibe that compliments the mic nicely and gives the mic a bit of height to work with.

 The stand has a 3 tier "waterfall" design that's cast iron with original black paint. It has the 6 inch chrome riser. The riser and base show typical lite wear but this stand is very good overall and makes for a very stable platform.

 The stand has 3 new felt pads that are in great condition. 

 Total dimensions with mic and stand are 10 inches high x 5 inches wide. 

The stand and mic are going to draw a ton of attention anywhere it's displayed.
