This Les Paul dates to an increasingly lauded period of Gibson production colloquially referred to as the “good wood” era, featuring a gloss Heritage Cherry Sunburst nitro lacquer finish and a 490R/498T humbucker pair.

Weighing 9lbs 4oz, traditional tonewoods include a mahogany body with a two-piece carved maple top, and a one-piece mahogany neck capped by a bound rosewood fingerboard. Via the original 490R and 498T humbucker pair, the guitar has plenty of power on tap, and these alnico magnet pickups cover a wide tonal range. The 490R is Gibson's Modern Classic humbucker, featuring Alnico II magnets and similar in its response to a PAF, yet with more midrange emphasis. The 498T Hot Alnico bridge position pickup has Alnico V magnets, with plenty of muscle and growl, well-suited for high gain scenarios. This Les Paul Standard has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
