This 1984 Gibson Explorer III is in very good vintage condition. This instrument shows signs of age, play wear and some modification throughout including some very fine finish checking, some slight pick scratches, and some minor dings around the body edges. The body of this Explorer has been routed to accommodate 3 humbucking pickups (these models came from the factory with 3 P-90s). The pickguard has been modified to accommodate the humbuckers and the tuning machines have been replaced with an older set of Schallers. Visible screwholes remain from the original tuners (see photos).
This Explorer has a killer feeling slim to medium “C” shaped neck profile with a 1 11/16” nut width. This neck is not overly chunky or super slim - it’s right in the middle and is extremely comfortable! The fret wire on this guitar is in great shape. It shows some slight wear, but is still tall and has lots of life left. This guitar has received a pro set up so it plays outstanding up and down the rosewood fingerboard with low smooth action and excellent intonation. This guitar absolutely rips when plugged in. It’s got a gold Gibson PAT# stickered humbucker in the bridge position that sounds incredible! The other two pickups are unbranded, but are definitely older and also sound excellent. This is a righteous vintage Explorer that sounds, plays and looks killer! This guitar weighs 8lb 8oz and is housed in its original black rectangular Gibson hardshell case. We will ship this Explorer out promptly and securely from our little shop here in Tennessee to your front door!
