I’ve had this Akai MPC2000XL for many years, but with most of my production happening in DAWs these days, I haven’t used it nearly as much as I recently hoped. I grew up on the sound of these classic boxes, so it’ll always have a special place in my heart, but I’m ready to let it go to someone who’ll put it to use.
A couple of things to know upfront:
The floppy drive is missing. This doesn’t prevent you from making beats on it, but you’ll need another way to save or transfer your work, such as connecting a compatible SCSI storage device, or recording your audio out before powering down.
The screen also has visible display damage and I’ve included photos so you can see exactly what condition it’s in.
It currently has 105.9 seconds of sampling time available, which is plenty to get a few beats going.
Overall, it’s definitely a little rough around the edges and could be a fun restoration or project piece for someone who’s into these machines, but it’s also functional and ready to make music as is. Plug it in, sample something, chop it up, and get to work. lol
The price reflects the cosmetic issues and the love it could use, while also taking into account that this is still a working MPC2000XL.
Selling as-described, so please check out the photos and feel free to ask any questions before buying.
