Guild Bluesbird End of 90s - Black
Guild Bluesbird from the end of 90s
I have this guitar for the last 15 years, after I sold my first Bluesbird (see video below), only used for open tunings as my backup for gigs. Otherwise it was always kept in its case.
The Guild is in a very good condition, not only for its age, but compared to other second hand guitars IMHO. The serial number starts with CL, so made in US, at Fender Corona California.
The few imperfections are displayed on the pictures. The head has some traces, the back some scratches only visible in this position, discoloration and cuts of the bindings (typical Guild issue), some oxidation of the side of frets on the fingerboard side and some traces on few frets. Everything else is very good, still has the new smell, even the guitar case.
The color is a nice piano-style black. The pickups are factory-orig Seymour Duncan SH-59s. The previous owner modified the configuration for 50s style, so the knobs are more interactive, you could mix and match the pickups for a wider range of vintage tones, but you have to be aware to not turn down the volumes completely in the mixed position, otherwise no sound. It sounds even better than my previous Bluesbird.
Although it looks like an LP, the sound is a mix of LP and ES style, due to the extensive chambering. it also help to achieve a relatively light weight compared to the similar Gibson models (LP and Supreme). Its construcion elements have a much higher quality, real Honduran Mahogany for the body, real maple top, real Indian Rosewood fingerboard.

These are the wide range of sounds possible with this guitar model:
