The Alesis Q49 is a 49-key USB/MIDI keyboard controller built for use with music software and hardware. Its velocity-sensitive, synth-action keys transmit MIDI data via a standard 5-pin MIDI Out jack or directly over USB - no driver installation required on Mac or PC, and it's also compatible with iPad via the Apple USB Adapter. It produces no sound on its own; audio output is entirely handled by connected software or hardware. Hands-on controls include pitch and modulation wheels, backlit Octave Up/Down buttons, and an assignable volume/data-entry slider. A 1/4" input accepts a sustain pedal (sold separately), and the unit can be powered via an optional 9V DC adapter in addition to USB bus power. The original Q49 shipped with Ableton Live Lite.
