1978 Tama Imperialstar 14x16 Concert Tom Jet Black Made in Japan Vintage

Vintage circa-1978 Tama Imperialstar 14" x 16" concert tom in the original Jet Black finish, made in Japan.

Classic late-1970s Imperialstar construction featuring a 9-ply mahogany shell, Zola-Coat interior and reinforcing ring at the batter/headed side of the shell. This is a single-headed concert tom with the open bottom typical of Tama's concert toms from this era.

The drum retains its original Tama badge, vintage Tama hardware, hoop, lugs and tom mounting bracket.

The drum has been completely disassembled, carefully cleaned and polished, and reassembled. The Jet Black finish retains a very nice deep gloss, and the chrome hardware is in very nice condition for its age.

There are scratches, scuffs and tom rash consistent with a nearly 50-year-old drum. One area has more noticeable rash/deeper scratching and is shown clearly in the photos. Some of the lighter surface marks may improve with additional polishing, while the deeper marks will remain.

Brand-new Remo Emperor clear drumhead installed.

A great-looking survivor from Tama's late-1970s Japanese Imperialstar era. It presents very nicely overall while retaining the honest cosmetic wear expected from a vintage player's drum.
