Up for sale is a rare and highly sought-after Skinpimp MKII Professional - built by Ryan Kirkland in 2010.
This is from the golden era of Skinpimp Hand Crafted, when Ryan was building one-man-shop replicas of the classic Sola Sound Tone Bender circuits. The MKII Professional is his take on the 3-transistor Sola Sound Tone Bender Professional MKII - the Jimmy Page / Led Zeppelin I circuit.
This particular unit is special:
• Custom ordered "For Mike" - # VL0014 - 2010 - handwritten and signed by Ryan Kirkland inside the backplate
• NOS Germanium - Loaded with genuine vintage Mullard transistors including OC84 Great Britain cans visible on the tagboard (see photos)
• True vintage construction - Hand-wired on tagboard with blue Mullard and yellow Callaite caps, carbon comp resistors - no PCB
• Artwork: White enclosure with the iconic black/gold skeleton / floral distressed graphic by Ryan (tattoo artist background)
• Controls: LEVEL and ATTACK - cleans up beautifully with guitar volume like a real MKII should
Sound: Thick, vocal, searing MKII fuzz. From overdriven amp breakup to full violin-like sustain. Not a modern high-gain distortion - this is the classic Tone Bender voice.
