Vintage Wurlitzer 214A Electric Piano, Serviced, Built-In Speakers

I'm selling my Wurlitzer 214A electric piano, serial number 102753 - dating it to approximately the mid-1970s. The 214A is one of the rarer and more distinctive instruments in the Wurlitzer 200-series family. Built for classroom use, it combines the classic Wurlitzer sound with built-in speakers, making it unusually self-contained: plug it into power and play without hauling around an external amp.

Somewhere, decades ago, a music teacher may have used one just like this to teach 25 distracted children how to play “Hot Cross Buns.” This one survived.

It is in excellent working order and was professionally serviced by Vintage Vibe. All keys work properly, along with the sustain pedal, volume control, tremolo circuit, Tape Out, and Aux Amp Out. I have not tested the Tape In or Photo jacks, partly because I do not know what they do and partly because I am not operating a 1970s educational filmstrip department.

Cosmetically, it presents very well. There are a few areas along the bottom where the black Tolex is chipped or fraying, all shown clearly in the photos. It is approximately 50 years old, so some evidence that it has lived a life seems fair.

The built-in speakers sound great, but the best tone comes from placing a microphone in front of them. It sounds warm, creamy, and ridiculously smooth, with the exact character people spend a lot of money trying to recreate with plugins.
